Description

One of the most quintessentially fae kith in outlook, the pooka are a diverse lot, and consider themselves one happy, funny, furry extended family. Notorious liars and pranksters, these shapechangers are the jesters and comic relief of Kithain society, and they play their part with great pride and enthusiasm. Pooka embody the daydreams of mortals who enviously watched animals and children playing freely, and maintain deep relations with both aspects of their protectorate. They take their protectorate quite seriously, and even the Seelie can become quite vicious with their "pranks" if they catch someone abusing animals or children; if the offender doesn't learn his lesson (quickly), he endures the same abuse his victims suffered several times over. Ever artful, pooka justice is often quite public and geared to humiliate as well as to punish.
Every pooka can change into one animal, and while the shape adopted is usually nonthreatening and mammal (cats, dogs, mice, sheep, etc.), tales of avian, amphibian, aquatic and even reptilian pooka are not unheard of. In addition, pooka tales of their kind who could change into insects, large predators or even legendary creatures are generally regarded as just that - stories. Often, a perceptive fae can guess at a pooka's animal affinity, as pooka tend to look and dress in styles reminiscent of their animals - long shaggy hair for a sheepdog, bright clothes and a large nose for a parrot, sleek fashions and grace for a cat, and so on. Other kith (usually those who just suffered at a pooka's cleverness) call their lying a malicious streak, but the pooka defend it by saying they can't let a plain truth go around naked - they have to dress it up a bit, or it just wouldn't be decent.

Aptitudes

Comic Sense: Pooka have a hard time being serious. Don't, or you'll be scolded by the Narrators. Or worse.
Natures Strength: Due to their affinity with the natural world, all Pooka gain two free strength traits, but these must reflect their animal affinity and physical attributes.
Shapechange: When alone (witnessed by a narrator only), Pooka may change into their animal form by expending 1 glamour and counting to 10 slowly. They must ensure that all players (not characters) know they are changed. When in animal mode, they may not speak to other players, but may communicate through anothers use of spells, etc. They may change back anytime they are alone and can count to 10 slowly. Talk to the Storyteller about this.

Drawbacks

Irritating: Pooka are lighthearted; all Pooka are at a two trait disadvantage for overbids on any Psi challenge, and always lose ties. (except with other Pooka).
