Description

Lurkers and lore masters, gatherers of secrets and shadows, the Sluagh are said to have been given their shapes by mortal dreams of creatures in the darkness who heard every secret, saw every sin and punished the wicked when night fell. In older times many parents put unruly children back in line with threats to call the Sluagh to discipline them, and even in the modern age the other Kithain look uneasily at the underfolk when they hear the word "fear." Called rumormongers and eccentric collectors at best, spies and assassins at worst, no other kith is as widely distrusted by its fellows, or considered quite as useful when it comes to dealing in a rival's dirty laundry. For their part, the sluagh say little, preferring instead to let centuries' worth of reputation they've gathered (fairly and otherwise) keep the foolish and idly curious out of their affairs.
Sluagh maintain ties with other denizens of the shadow community, most notably wraiths, who have been their allies for centuries. Gifted (or cursed) with the ability to see and speak to the spirits of the dead, sluagh often make bargains with wraiths, protecting the precious Fetters and Passions of their dead friends in exchange for having the wraiths spy on areas inaccessible even to them. Indeed, in their fae forms, sluagh are often mistaken for the dead; they appear impossibly thin and pale, with dark hair, piercing dark eyes and bodies that can make supermodels queasy. Younger sluagh often adopt full Goth dress, while their elders lean more toward Victorian fashions. Notoriously shy and agoraphobic, it is said that this kith is storing its lore in anticipation of some great change, or some calamity it sees as about to befall it, but if there is a dark secret or hidden motive at the heart of the sluagh, they are characteristically silent about it.

Aptitudes

Deadly Serious: Sluagh concentrate well and are not easily made to laugh. They have been known to find Redcap eating habits amusing.
Intellect: Due to their largely cerebral existence, all Sluagh gain two free Psi traits that develop their ability to gain information, or dispense it.
Summon Wraith: When alone (witnessed by a narrator only), Sluagh may summon a wraith (undead spirit) to act as a spy. The cost is 3 glamour and the wraith will serve faithfully for one hour before departing. Certain spells may reveal the existence of a wraith in the area, and they are easily slain or may even be charmed. Doors are no proof against a wraith, however magical barriers can prevent their passage. Wraiths are not neccessarily very smart, perceptive or reliable. All communication with the wraith must be private or everyone will be able to feel it's presence. It can be dismissed at any time. Talk to the Storyteller about this.

Drawbacks

Clandestine: Sluagh prefer to act indirectly and avoid physical conflict; all Sluagh are at a two trait disadvantage for overbids on any warfare challenge, and always lose ties. (except with other Sluagh).
