The Child Care co-op, up to age 6 or 7, will work in much the same way as it has in the past. The children need to be registered before the parents are able to utilize the facility. Each time a child enters or leaves, the parents (or other responsible adult) must sign the children in and out. Children will not be allowed to enter or leave child care during workshop hours without an adult accompanying them! Explain this to your children, especially those who are a little older and familiar with the grounds. Usually they are the ones who want to roam or go back to camp when they feel like it. We are concerned for the safety of your children and feel this will help with keeping track of their whereabouts.
Child Care will be open Wednesday through Saturday. The planned hours are 9:00 -12:30, a break from 12:30 - 1:45, then from 1:45 - 6:30. Please be prompt when picking up your children, our staff is all volunteer and they have other things to attend to after hours. If children are not picked up within 15 minutes of closing the parents will not be allowed to bring the child back for 24 hours.
Besides just plain old playing, there are scheduled projects each day. Last year these included: Making and Painting Capes, Creating Masks, Decorating a small Talisman Box (and Talisman!), & Sculpting Clay Gods and Goddesses.
Interactive Childrens Theatre engaged the wee ones after
lunch and there was plenty of time for unscheduled activities as well
as lots of toys, play dough, paints, etc. to entertain and amuse.
Kids should have underwear or diapers and shoes/sandals: no naked children, for their safety and health (especially in the sand). Be sure to leave any special supplies (like diapers) with the day boss/volunteers. When you register your child, inform us of any special need or allergies we need to be aware of.
