Laurence Galian

Laurence Galian is an Initiated Wiccan Priest of the Welsh Tradition and holds the title of Seanachie from the Temple of Danaan. Laurence has traveled the world on mystical pilgrimages to Mexico, Ireland, Bulgaria, Malta, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. He is an initiated dervish of the Halveti-Jerrahi Order from Istanbul, Turkey, and is Senior Dance Accompanist in the Hofstra University Dept. of Drama & Dance. He is the author of Beyond Duality: the Art of Transcendence, and his new book, The Sun at Midnight: The Revealed Mysteries of the Ahlul-Bayt Sufis. He is also a professional pianist and composer, listed in the 1999 "International Who's Who In Music" (Cambridge, England). All-star troublemaker, bon vivant, world traveler, antinomian Sufi Sheikh, musician, composer, Master Mason, and member of the Temple of Set, he forsakes the sun for the stars.

Ina May Gaskin

Ina May Gaskin, Certified Professional Midwife, is a founder and director of The Farm Midwifery Center, located near Summertown, Tennesee. Founded in 1971 in connection with The Farm Community (the largest and most successful hippie community in the world), the Center has handled nearly 2000 births with remarkably good statistics. Ina May has attended more than 1000 births herself. Her texts Spiritual Midwifery and Babies, Breast- Feeding, and Bonding have become classics in the field of pre- and post-natal care. She is the first living inductee to the Counter Culture Hall of Fame, and the first woman to hold that honor.

Steven Gaskin

Stephen Gaskin is a well-known teacher and counter-culture personality, the author of several books including Haight-Ashbury Flashbacks, Mind at Play, Cannabis Spirituality, This Season's People, Outlaw in My Heart, and a founder of The Farm Community: the largest and most successful hippie community in the world, created by a caravan of 400 hippies in 50 school- busses (and about 40 other vehicles), travelling across country from Haight-Ashbury. Stephen is also a founder of The Rocinante Health Center Project and Plenty International, an overseas relief and development company that helped rebuild 1200 houses and put in 27 kilometers of waterpipe in Guatemala, set up clinics in Lesotho and Mexico, and many other projects around the world including the Jefferson Award winning South Bronx Ambulance Project in New York City.

Jason Gazda

Jason Gazda is a founder of Rhythm Army, a non profit organization that volunteers musical and artistic talents to local and international protests. He is also a highly regarded didgeridoo maker and player. Known for his deep trance style of playing around bonfires and creating a noncompetitive atmosphere for didge players and makers in the Starwood festival community

John Gonce III

John Wisdom Gonce III, co-author of The Necronomicon Files, has had a life-long fascination with religion, supernormal phemonena and the occult. As an ordained minister in a Charismatic/Pentacostal denomination, he served as assistant pastor to a small mission church for several years. Now, as a Neo-Pagan and a practicing occultist, he occasionally provides exit-counselling for members of destructive cults. He is also an expert on medieval and renaissance arms, armor, and martial arts.

Penny Goody

Penny Goody has been an initiated member of the Sacred Dance Guild since 1968. Following the teaching of Shehera, Gabrielle Roth, Aiyja, and Suzanna Del Vecchio, she has devoted many years to the art of Dance Oriental (belly dancing). Born of Amish parents, her hexerie traditions of the Old Ways counter- balance New Age insights. A student of Stephen Gaskin's Monday night classes in the late 1960's, she studied with Samuel Lewis, learning the Sufi traditions of enlightenment through movement. A presenter/coordinator of Kids' Village at Starwood, she encourages children to explore their own magical ways. She is an adherent of the Church and School of Wicca, and received her Doctorate of Divinity degree in 1990. Now going into its twelfth year, Penny is Goodwife Goody Goody at the Ohio Renaissance Festival, teaching ribbon dancing and selling her magical crafts.

Taliesin Athor Govannon

Taliesin Athor Govannon has been a student of the occult for over 20 years, studying a potpourri of topics ranging from hauntings and poltergeists to UFOs, demonology, tarot, ceremonial magick and beyond. He has followed the path of Witchcraft for the past 13 years, partaking in everything from solitary practice to Celtic Traditional Craft; as well as leading a myriad of eclectic open circles along the way. Taliesin is currently High Priest of the Coven of Caer Ariarhod in Northeast Ohio. He's a dedicated humourist, author of the now-infamous original set of redneck Pagan jokes, as well as former humour-columnist for "The Witches Brew" magazine. He is also a free-lance writer, author of a series of probing essays on Modern Wicca (published on the internet, as well as author of the forth-coming novel "The Dark Kiss". He is also a musician who's band, Balefire (which includes his wife/High Priestess Willow Sterling), has released one album (Up from the Ashes) and hopes to have another ready by autumn.

Raven Grimassi

Raven Grimassi is the author of several books on Wicca and Witchcraft including The Wiccan Mysteries, which was awarded "Book of the Year" and "First Place- Spirituality Book" by the Coalition of Visionary Retailers in 1998. Raven's other titles include: The Encyclopedia of Wicca and Witchcraft, Italian Witchcraft, Wiccan Magick, Hereditary Witchcraft, and his newest title- Beltane; Springtime Rituals, Lore and Celebration. Raven is a recognized expert on Italian Witchcraft and the foremost authority on the works of folklorist Charles Godfrey Leland in this particular field. Grimassi is also the Directing Elder of the Arician Tradition, a system of Italian Witchcraft. Raven has appeared on TV and radio programs across the U.S. and is a popular guest speaker at festivals from coast to coast. His former students include authors Don Michael Kraig and Scott Cunningham.

Denise Grudt

Denise Grudt holds a degree in teaching from Eastern Michigan University, with a minor in science. She has been presenting animal programs since 1983, travelling to schools from Texas to NY. A practicing eclectic Wiccan since 1989, she combines science with magick to help people explore their "wild side". Denise has presented Pagan programs at Diana's Grove in Missouri, Convocation in Ann Arbor, several Druid events, C.U.U.P.s functions, and held her own "Animal Magick Weekends" for families (researched by Starhawk's co-writer Ann Hill for their Pagan Family book).

Charles Hayes

Charles Hayes has been a free-lance writer/editor for a variety of businesses and organizations, a communications manager for a marketting firm, and a free-lance journalist whose work has appeared in The Earth Times and E Magazine. a resident of Westchester County, NY, Charles is the author/Editor of Tripping: An Anthology of True-Life Psychedelic Adventures, with an interview containing "a Terence McKenna's-eye view" of the Starwood Festival.

Francesca Hedrick

Francesca Hedrick is from a matriarchy that is highly influenced in natural energy and herbal use. A member of a Wiccan coven for almost 20 years, she has practiced as a solitary and now a Dedicant, following the Druidic path of ADF. She currently holds the position as Chief of ADF Artisans Guild and Grove Organizer for Raven Hawk Protogrove, ADF in Annapolis, MD. Francesca started her own herb business, Chesapeake Herbs & Crafts, in 1987, and as a member of numerous herb associations and an herb activist she has appeared on local tv, radio and newspapers. Having written local herb columns, taught herb classes, and has spoken widely on the herb field, she holds a Competent Toastmaster(CTM) recognition from Toastmasters International.

Mike Ingalls

Mike Ingalls (AKA Puf) has been a musician for 37 years, and a professional for 30. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin Wallace College, and is active as a cellist, composer and arranger. His Suite for String Orchestra was premiered last March by the Welsh Hills Orchestra in Granville, OH. Besides Classical Music, he has played rock, folk, bluegrass, and is currently studying jazz.

Jack Ingersoll

Jack Ingersoll is a Clinical Social Worker with an M.S.S.W. and licensed in the state of Wisconsin. He belongs to the Association of Certified Social Workers, and is certified as a Sex Counselor by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. He had three years as Analyst in training at the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago. He is a Scion in The Church of All Worlds and a 2nd Degree Gardnerian.

Catherine Cartwright Jones

Catherine Cartwright Jones has 30 years experience as a professional craftsperson, illustrator and artisan, and holds a BFA from UCLA. She is a talented teacher, both at Kent State University and within the Magical community. She has several books published, and is currently preparing Henna, The Joyous Body Art for publication, detailing the 9000 year history and tradition of henna, it's related arts and belief system. Jim Klar
Cleveland Aikikai

Jim Klar (Chameleon & ACE Organizer) appears as a representative of Cleveland Aikikai. A second degree Black Belt, Jim has studied the Japanese martial art of Aikido for ten years, including two years in Japan, and taught for six. He currently teaches at Cleveland Aikikai and Oberlin College.

Cleveland Aikikai is a school of Aikido affiliated with Shihan Mitsugi Saotome's Aikido Schools of Ueshiba. Founded 18 years ago and currently based in Cleveland Hts., Ohio, its members and students are dedicated to preserving and advancing the art, and they train actively 7 days a week.

Paul Krassner

Paul Krassner is a founder of the Yippies and an original Merry Prankster, and is known as a journalist, a Zen satirist, and the man who guided Groucho Marx on his first acid trip. As the publisher of the legendary magazine The Realist, Paul has been called the Father of the Underground Press (though he immediately demanded a DNA test), and one of the best minds of his generation to be destroyed by madness! In response to the F.B.I.'s classification of him as a raving, unconfined nut, George Carlin said, The F.B.I. was right. This man is dangerous... and funny, and necessary.

Lyrus Landholder

Lyrus Landholder has studied and practiced many paths of Magick for over twenty years, from Wicca to Thelema, Tantra to Kabbalah. He is an Elder and past High Priest of the Circle of the Sacred Grove (Church of Pantheist Wicca), and a founding member of the Chameleon Club. He is a fine cellist, composer and arranger, with a B.A. in Music. Lyrus was trained in Yoga at the Light of Yoga Society in Cleveland, and has been practicing Yoga for 22 years. He has been presenting Morning Attunements at Starwood and WinterStar for over ten years.

Lia Fail consists of: Khearan Morgan, an accomplished singer/songwriter and guitar player; Tracey Kinney on vocals, bass, and bodhrain; Sybil Cagey on vocals; Dan Colbert on djembe; Pat Custy from County Clare, Ireland, on tin whistle, flute, and digeridoo; and Nikki Nicholas from Galway, Ireland on fiddle, bodhrain and djembes and Ester Cole.

Liafal, M. Ed, is a Chameleon, an ACE organizer, and a former Senior Druid of Stone Creed Grove. Erica Lieberman

Erica Lieberman is the vocalist and harpist for the Celtic folk band, the Reelies. She has provided music and sound for pagan rituals for the past ten years in various covns, and open sabbat celebrations in California and New York. Her new solo CD, Satyrs and Sirens is due for release in August. She is also an editor of mind/body/spirit books for Paraview Press in New York City, and is currently working with author Cynthia Snodgrass on a new book about sound and spirit.

Laurie Lovekraft

Laurie Lovekraft, MA, is a 10-year magickal practitioner and popular Northern California performer. She has studied Wicca, Thelema, Buddhism, Hinduism, New Age "Woo", and has led numerous rituals for Pagans and non-Pagans. She is a founding member of the Crescent Hellions, a California collective dedicated to creating transformative large group rituals and is 'resident priestess' of Ocean Song Farm and Wilderness Center.
