Lilith Dorsey

Lilith Dorsey, B.A. (Anthropology), M.A.(Cinema and Media Studies), comes from many different magickal systems, including Celtic, Voodoo, and Native American spirituality. Her formalized education focused on Plant Science, Anthropology, Cinema Studies, and Fine Art at the University of R.I., New York University and the University of London. Her cross-traditional magickal training includes initiations in Santeria, Haitian Vodoun, and New Orleans Voodoo.

She has been active in the pagan community for over fifteen years as editor and publisher of Oshun: African Magical Quarterly. Ms. Dorsey is also the author of the newly released Voodoo and Afro-Caribbean Paganism ( published in 2005 by Kensington Press.) As a veteran filmmaker her experimental documentary Bodies of Water-Voodoo Identity and Transformation was completed in 2004, and is currently showing at film festivals throughout America.

Psychic Recording : Audio, Video and Still Photography

Since mankind has been able to record both sound and image it has been preoccupied with recording the psychic world of the invisibles. This class will discuss tips and techniques for capturing the otherworldly with video, film, and digital media, and also provide a historical overview of practices of the past. Lilith Dorsey as a filmmaker and archivist will also explore new currents and developments in the field and ways everyone can contribute to the future of psychic recording.

Cast in Silver : Witchcraft and Spirituality in the Cinema

Just when you thought you had seen it all, from Wicker Man to Coffin Joe to Divine Horseman and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this workshop will explore both traditional and non-traditional forms of spirituality on screen. We will discuss themes such as spectatorship and media hype, while trying to find solutions for more adequate representation. This class is for the movie buff, and media minded pagan alike.

Voodoo and Afro-Caribbean Paganism

The true nature of the sacred religions of Voodoo, Vodou, and Santeria will be examined. Zombies, sacrifice, voodoo dolls, possession, curses and other myths will be debunked and the true magickal power of this ancient religion will be experienced in this class. We will see how the traditions have survived and flourished despite years of oppression. There will also be an exploration of the sacred dance movements and other ways of honoring and communing with these ancient gods.
