Using Both Brains
Presented by Jonathan Dickau.
Research into left brain/right brain thinking shows that the two
halves of our brain think differently, and are suited for different
kinds of tasks. Studies of people from various cultures show that
differences in our style of thinking are often culturally based, as
well, rather than innate. But we can change this conditioning through
our choices and our understanding of how the brain functions.
Jonathan's view is that though one side of the brain seems very good at
taking things apart, and the other side seems better at putting things
together, they're both actually doing the same thing, but in opposite
directions in time! In this workshop, Jonathan will examine how various
tasks and different styles of thinking take advantage of the strengths
of one side, or the other, and explain why some tasks require both sets
of skills, to do well. He will outline various ways the individual can
learn to develop the less-used portions of the brain, and discuss why it
is helpful to learn how to think with one's whole brain.
