The Question of Animal Sacrifice

The purpose of this session is to create a framework to help the practitioner to approach the question of animal sacrifice on the secure footing of systematic thought coupled with deep feeling. The pros and cons of the question will be examined. Gifts, presents, offerings, and sacrifices will be discussed as useful technical terms. Personal experiences of the presenter in New Orleans Voodoo and Tibetan Buddhism will be discussed in the light of Community. The presentation will be based on the text of Talking to God with Food; The Question of Animal Sacrifice (Martinie, 2012) which, contrary to the prevailing opinion, is not just another book on New Orleans cuisine.
