The Love Drums
The Love Drums make people dance. Layering ancient African drum rhythms into deep, juicy grooves and topping them with oh-so-tasty solos and passionate vocals is how they do it. Whether the tempo is slow and sultry or fast and furious, The Love Drums' message is always positive and reaffirming. The band features djembes, dunduns, and an array of other African hand and stick drums, as well as voice, bass, didgeridoo, flute, shakers, bells, wood blocks and other percussive instruments. The band has played at such festivals as the Barefoot Farmer's Tennessee Summer Solstice in Red Boiling Springs, TN; Drum & Splash at Four Quarters, in PA; Transformus Burn in Asheville, NC; and Alchemy Burn in Lafayette, GA. Ensemble front man and founder Ed Haggard is a renowned drummer, performer, instructor, drum circle facilitator, and Burning Man regional theme camper. He will also be offering classes this year at Starwood. Ed says, "I love playing this music because it makes everyone feel alive and connected. It touches something deep and primal in us. It is a celebration of all that is good and it's really sexy in a way too."
