Sam Stansfield

Sam Stansfield holds a degree in Mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology (1978) and a PhD in Physics from Case Western Reserve University (1986). He has been a lecturer at Baldwin-Wallace College since 1997 in their Physics and Astronomy Department. He is a Chameleon and an A.C.E. organizer, and has been a Starwood contributor for many years, both as a speaker and helping run the show. In the past his workshops have included the Star Walk, Orienteering, Tree Planting, and a workshop on Crystal Structure.

Star Walk

Join us for a Walk Among the Stars, under the beautiful Wisteria night sky, far from the masking light sources of the city. See the planets and stars visible to the naked eye on a Starwood night. The only planet likely to be visible in the evening is Saturn (although Jupiter and Mars may be visible right before sunrise). Among the constellations likely to be visible are: the Big Dipper, Draco, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Lyra, Cygnus, Cepheus and Cassiopeia, plus the "Summer Triangle". If we're lucky, we may see the Little Dipper, Pegasus and Hercules. (Sam's Star Walk will be scheduled at least twice, just to give us more chances for clear weather.)
